The Intersection of Policy and Technology at the Curb (Webinar)

Matty Schaefer

The number of cyclist deaths in the U.S. increased by 8% in 2022. Reversing this trend requires a broad shift in driver behavior, but current data on bike lane violations and double parking is significantly underreported. How can we expect cities to solve problems they don't even know about? Even in places like New York City, for every one vehicle that gets a ticket for blocking a bike lane, there's a hundred more that go under the radar.

Using publicly available traffic cameras in NYC, Vade conducted a groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind study to measure just how bad the problem is, and how we can use technology and policy to effectively and equitably manage it. Join us for a webinar with Vade CEO Matty Schaefer, Open Plans CSO Sara Lind, and Tom DeVito from Families for Safe Streets, to learn more about their efforts around bike lane safety and automated enforcement of the curb.
